Year of Prayer for Vocations to the Priesthood – School Resources
The Diocese of London is in the midst of a Year of Prayer for Vocations to the Priesthood (Pentecost 2023-Pentecost 2024). Schools received a resource package to support this Year of Prayer in schools and classrooms. The Director of Vocations and Seminarians will be making visits to schools to support the promotion of vocations.
Upcoming Christian Meditation Retreats
Educators and school administrators were invited to take some time away from their normal routines and participate in an upcoming Christian Meditation Weekend Retreat. Participants will learn how to meditate in the Christian tradition and become more comfortable with this prayer of stillness, simplicity, and silence. Participants will also learn how they can integrate this ancient prayer practice into their own schools/classrooms with students.
EQUITY, INCLUSION AND WELL-BEING
Passages Event – Transition Planning for Families & Youth
The LDCSB, in partnership with TVCC & TVDSB, will again this year be hosting an in-person information fair that will focus on supporting students with special education needs through secondary transitions to a variety of post-secondary pathways including school to work, college, university, or community.

Student and Staff Health
Resources were shared with schools earlier this Fall to assist in preparing for the fall respiratory illnesses season. The LDCSB continues established practices to optimize air quality to support healthy and safe learning environments for students and staff.
Although school boards are no longer required to communicate or use self-screening protocols, if students or staff have symptoms of illness, they can take the COVID-19 self-assessment here. Masks are not required for students, staff and visitors in schools, school board offices, or on student transportation but are generally available in visible areas such as visitor/staff sign-in sheets, etc.
Behaviour Management Training Sessions for Principals
Behaviour Management Systems training was developed as a response to the increased need to support student behavioural challenges and the essential training required for school staff. Training for School Principals and Vice Principals focuses on the BMS language and theory used when collaborating with school teams to proactively support student needs and respond effectively to student behaviour.

OYAP Information Night for Students and Parents/Guardians
Students and their parents/guardians are invited to attend an information session on the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP). OYAP provided students with an opportunity to try a Skilled Trades during Secondary Co-op Courses and potentially become registered apprentices while still in secondary school. Learn more about this program by attending the OYAP Information Presentation on Monday, November 27, 2023, at 7:00p.m. at the London Marconi Club with the option to join earlier for a light dinner. Learning Priority: Mathematics
One of the LDCSB’s System Goals is that all students will become increasingly proficient in mathematics. What is mathematical proficiency? This short article describes the 5 interrelated components of math proficiency and offers 5 ways that teachers can help students in becoming proficient in math.
Digital Learning and Teaching Hub Resources
A number of resources for teachers have been created or updated, including an interactive and searchable list of digital tools; a new resource site focusing on the impact of Artificial Intelligence on learning; as well as a new site dedicated the triangulation of assessment, with a special focus on observation and conversation. This includes tutorials about leveraging iPads and Microsoft Forms to simplify the process.
